The women’s suffrage movement was a pivotal moment in history that brought about significant social and political changes. The Beginning of the Movement
The women’s suffrage movement started in the late 19th century in the United States and the United Kingdom. Women had been fighting for their rights for years, but it was not until the 1840s that the first organized movement began. In 1848, a group of women gathered in Seneca Falls, New York, to discuss women’s rights, and that marked the beginning of the formal women’s suffrage movement.
The Seneca Falls Convention was organized by Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady Stanton, two of the most prominent figures in the suffrage movement. They drafted a Declaration of Sentiments, which stated that “all men and women are created equal” and called for women’s right to vote.
