I want to point out right away that this is the story of an alternate future, all coincidences are coincidental, everything is fiction.
The year was 2074, and the United States was a nation divided. The election of President Jocelyn Vega, the first Latina president of the United States, had caused a seismic shift in the country’s political landscape. Many conservatives felt that her policies would be detrimental to their way of life, and tensions began to simmer.
For Lila, a 24-year-old student from New York City, the political polarization was evident every time she logged onto social media. Her feed was filled with posts from her liberal friends, who celebrated President Vega’s election, and from her conservative family members, who feared for the future of their country.
As the political climate became increasingly volatile, Lila found herself torn between her loyalty to her family and her own beliefs. She was a firm believer in equality and social justice, but she also loved her family deeply and didn’t want to see them hurt.
